NGO Committee on the Rights of the Child (NGOCRC)
Background
NGO Committee on the Rights of the Child (NGOCRC) is a national coalition of forty six (46) NGOs in the Kingdom of Cambodia whose major commonality is their commitment towards the Rights of the Child. Established in September 1994 by nine (9) elected NGO Members, NGOCRC endeavors to raise awareness of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) among children, their parents and all relevant institutions. It dedicates its efforts and resources to the efficient and effective implementation of the CRC by advocating for child rights. Specifically, it concentrates on the formulation and amendment of laws pertaining to children. It also monitors the implementation of UNCRC in Cambodia and submits supplementary report on the implementation of UNCRC in Cambodia to the United Nations CRC Committee. The NGOCRC also aims to strengthen the capability of its members.
Mandates
NGOCRC was incorporated to fill the need to:
- Advocate for child rights.
- Organize a functional Children’s Committee
- Monitor the implementation of UNCRC in Cambodia
- Submit supplementary report on the implementation of UNCRC in Cambodia to the United Nations CRC Committee.
- Strengthen its capability (Executive Committee, Secretariat and NGO members)
