Aspiring to full participation

DEMOCRATIC participation is a human right. All women and men, all girls and boys, of all backgrounds and ages, should be allowed to participate in the governance of their country.This is set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that everyone has the right to take part in their country’s government and that the will of the people should be expressed in periodic free and fair elections.

New law will fill legal void on foreign adoptions and help fight child trafficking.

THE National Assembly has begun approving a draft law tightening restrictions on the adoption of Cambodian children by foreign parents, responding to fears the previous lack of a regulatory framework allowed for the exploitation and trafficking of children.

Cambodian couple arrested for torturing young girl

(AP) — PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - A Cambodian schoolteacher and her husband have been charged for repeatedly torturing an 11-year-old girl they bought to be their domestic helper and held captive for more than a year, a court official said Monday.
